The Paintbrushes are Flying

Image
A new board for over Kamden's bed. Would not want him to have an identity crisis, because it is still Kendall's name up there on the wall. And one for an order.   In my paint room, there is so much stuff laying around.   I see something in the stash in the basement, I drag it to the paint room, on the second floor and sometimes it sits and  doesn't get painted and so... the hoard begins to move to a place we see everyday.     Trying so hard to get it cleaned up. I am trying to finish a few things, drag a few more back down that I don't feel like painting yet, and only bringing them up one at a time.   Wouldn't it just be easier to CLEAN it?

Peppers, Paint, A Dam and a Surprise

Image
JWS came home from town yesterday with peppers. A lot of peppers! He made this pepper relish that is delicious on burgers, chips or just a spoon! I painted, and painted... and painted some more! Jenn wanted to take the boys to see the dam. They had seen the sign yesterday and wanted to know what it was. This is about a mile from our house as the crow flies. As the Chevy goes,  a little farther. So this evening we went for a ride. So close and yet I had not been there for a few years. Mahoning Dam is a Corp of Engineers Flood Control Dam. The boys were impressed. http://www.lrp.usace.army.mil/rec/lakes/mahoning.htm A little friend that we saw on the way in. And the surprise. JWS brought this home for me yesterday. An Ipod! I love it! I spent the evening last night loading music on it. What a guy!

Finally, some painting orders

Image
Really, they are long overduee.   The one above has been sitting in my paint room so long that  I didn't even notice any longer.  How embarrassing.  The one below  was an order, it only took a month or so to get it done!  It is already at it's destination!  Now for the other ten or so  orders that are calling me.  Too much procrastination on my part!

Some Links, My Version, A Plea, and a Big No-N0

Image
I think that I might be done with these for awhile.  Not sure though, they were pretty addictive. Now, here is the issue. I lost the link to where I found them. Forgot to pin it! How could I do that? Very easy if you live in my world. I lose way more important stuff than that. Anyway, I am going to apologize up front to anyone that I might offend by posting this pattern. It is not my own. If you see it and it is yours, let me know and I will quickly make amends. That being said, I did change it a little. It was written for one strand and a teeny tiny crochet hook. Here is what I did. Dug through the stash. A little Knit Cro Sheen Some cotton thread. Some Perle cotton, Whatever I found, I used three stands of these. I experimented with. Using an E crochet hook. Chain 6 Join with a slip stitch to make a ring. Chain 3 (This counts as first DC) Make 2 dc in ring and chain 5 until you have five groups of DC and five chain 5 spaces. Join to the initial chain 3 Make a single crochet in...

The Strange Ribbon Obsession

Image
I'll get to that in a minute... But first, These are some things that I have been working on. See that first one up in the left hand corner? Well I really didn't like that head on that one, so the rest sort of got beheaded. Sure like them better that way. Tried this, not sure if I like it. And these stars.  JWS came home to find them pinned to a board drying on the kitchen counter. His comment? "It's not like you don't have enough areas to craft in this house, is this what it had come to? You now take over the kitchen counter?" Just short of the frustration he had when he found them drying on a baker rack on top of the wood burner. And now on to the topic of discussion.  Four or five years ago, I asked JWS to stop and get me curling ribbon while he was in town. Red Curling Ribbon. He went to Joann's and bought $75 worth of ribbon. So proud that he had got a deal, I still have tons of ribbon. Then in a moment of weakness on Saturday. Not thinking of th...

The Rest of the Story

Image
So those of you that have read the Green post below, will now get the REST of the story of yesterday. Up in the AM, finished these crocks for an order, after a lovely, brisk, freezing your butt off 3 mile walk in below freezing conditions. Honestly, are we going to do this all winter? Then pack up my painting gear, pick-up my MIL, drop off my MIL at dialysis, off to paint this. Some of you will remember the beginning of this a few weeks back. Still have lots to go, but done until after Christmas.  Making good time on that project, I thought that I would have enough time to take back the jacket to Wallyville and pick up the GREEN cell phone case at the Verizon Store BEFORE I picked up my MIL.  So the time line. 12:35 Park at the Verizon Store Walk in. Leave my phone, (Other issues also than just a case) Walk to Wallyville Bag in Hand. in the door get in line 12:40 Wait, you have to go to another line to get another paper. Get in that line. Wait Wait Wait. Until I have an an...

Twelve through Seventeen

Image
For those of you following along, there was this aggressive, impulsive moment when I thought I could do thirty projects in thirty days. Everything started off great, but somewhere along the line, I got way behind. Trying to get back on track. so 12. Decorating the church, check! 13. The Stewart plaque in the previous post, check. 14. The other name plaque that I cannot show, check. 15. The coffee pot above, check. 16.  This snowman board, check. And... 17. Garren's stocking. Not to worry, 18, 19, and 20 are laying on the living room floor in various stages of completion. Stockings for the rest of Garren's family. So, that being said, I have 13 projects to go and nine days! Yikes! To be fair, part of the things that I wanted to do involved Christmas decorating and since I have new carpet coming on Friday, and since half the house needs moved to the other half of the house. Decorating seemed senseless. So back to work today.  Shouldn't I feel more refreshed and ready to ...
