A Clown Free Auction

Image
And they are rare happenings because JWS generally manages to find clowns.  I "won"  this cute little card table. And this crock, that I quit bidding on and  JWS picked up where I left off.  I have a yellow one like it,  have never seen this color.  I loved this fabric,  however it resembled swiss cheese when I removed it from the  washer. The risk you take. I bought a box,  for the planter below and there was this retro looking ash tray in it.  Ash trays just aren't needed like they used to be!  I have been looking for a set of these salt and pepper shakers  for my camper.  Anyone remember these!  A stand  and a ladder to chalk paint.  And my sister found some treasures also.  The cornucopia? I think she is going to paint it white.

Suwannee Quilt Shop

Image
Let me start by saying,  I have been in my share of quilt shops.   I am sure, not as many as real quilters, but I would venture to say that  I have seen more quilt shops than your average  non-quilter. IN LOTS  OF  STATES. This shop was by far THE BEST! Quilts,  Antiques, A Soda Shop Food Desserts and a  LOT OF  FABRIC!  A ton of fabric!! Everything was so artfully arranged!  Mom loved it also!  A whole room of Christmas! A room for fall. And then,  Everything else so  beautifully arranged!  Kid's rooms,  Orientals, Batiks, Civil War Prints,  Food Prints,  A room to browse books and patterns.... If you are anywhere close... make sure you visit, or make the day trip to see it.  The food was excellent and there is a lovely tea room  and  antique shop next door....

Who, What, Where, When and Why?

Image
Who? Kendall, the one on the left asks a lot of questions.  Gracelyn, the one on the right is more , let's say, ethereal.  She makes up her own stories... and answers. Kendall is literal, grounded in the who, what, where, when, why and how. They love to play in the tailgate while we are waiting on the bus in the morning. Makes me have to keep it cleaned out. What? That is not an easy task! You will see why later.   Where?   This is my attic.  This is open house stuff! I have painted and knitted and sewed and, wait for it, Priced Nothing!!!!   So, I spend a lot of time sitting up here doing inventory and pricing.   When? Early morning. The Great Grout Experience See how bad the grout looks? One morning I tried Baking soda, Vinegar, Lemon juice, Toilet Bowl Cleaner, Ammonia, Clorox, (not mixed of course, I am not that dumb, well... to tell you the truth at on...

Finishing...and Boys

Image
Last week, I went on a tangent to finish some things. Ann at A Hole in the Basket challenged me to a race. She beat me on Day Two. But she was motivation. I finished this quilt top. A Great Stash Buster! And this painting that had been partially finished for weeks... Oh, Ok...months! And another sample for friends' guest room. I like the right side better. how about you? And a scarf that had been sitting about as long as the painting. And Boys... It is summer and Tyler and Logan are at work with us. Five and Six, they have been there daily for most of their lives. Wouldn't you think that they would know to stay away from the ink? Apparently, hot pink t-shirt ink just looked too inviting and just begged to have a golf ball dipped in it. T-shirt ink doesn't dry until 350 degrees, golf ball aside.. I don't think that you can put little boys in a 350 degree oven. or the bathroom sink or the walls or t...

A Challenge & Two More Finished

Image
Ann at A Hole in the Basket issued a challenge to me to see which one of us could finish the most projects by Friday! Always up for some motivation.. I accepted!  If anyone else wants to join in just comment here and we will link your blog and sign you up. There might even be a prize! So that being said, the two pillows above are one and two. Of course, it would not be fair to have yesterday's finishes. A few more blocks on the stash buster. And if you saw yesterday's post, you might recognize the disaster rat's nest of fabric. All organized, that should speed things up. And a project in progress. A bath mat throw rug that I started awhile ago, got a few more rows this morning. So any takers? Let's see how many things you can finish this week.  Comment here or over on Ann's blog, and join in!

To All Those Enablers

Image
My Mother called on Tuesday and informed me that the trunk of her car was full. Could I meet her, she wanted it emptied? My Mother lives 100 miles away. So, after work, I make my half of the trip and meet my parents for supper. An event made so much easier with the time change. I seriously dislike that trip in the dark. And what is pictured above is part of what her trunk was full of. I had to make one little purse, just to use a bit of the fabric. So many projects in that pile... however, I think that she and her friends are enabling the hoarder in me. All these zippers also. I did finish this scarf in the past few days. But, I started this. A baby afghan for a friend's first grandchild. Still working on these. Tomorrow may be the Bigger Than a Volkswagen Project Announcement. And another of these. Orange Camo this time. That's it folks! Lovin' the spring weather! Lovin' the time change! Lovin' not having the fireplace mess! Logan - 37 Robins Grandma Shirle...

Blue Jean Table Runner Tutorial

Image
You will need: Lightweight cardboard Pen Scissors Thread Old Jeans 10 squares of contrasting material. Sewing Machine. Start with a circle pattern around 7 inches in diameter.  I used one of my small plates and it worked fine. Cut a cardboard pattern or just trace around the plate.   You will need 10 of these for the runner. Trace the circles on the wrong sides of the jeans and cut out. Hint:  I trace a bunch, cut them into smaller pieces and cut them out in the evenings in front of the TV. Now this part is a little tricky. You might need some of your high school geometry skills. You need a pattern for a square that fits inside of your circle and touches all four corners. I used my ruler for my rotary cutter and laid it down on my circle pattern and marked the circle pattern. Mine worked out to five inches. This is the end of the math, I promise. If you have a simple graphics program on your computer, you should be able to make a pattern from that also.  and i...
