The Bucket List

Image
Do any of you have a bucket list? That seemed to have been the topic of conversation of the weekend. I made mine when I turned 40, more than a few years ago. They were not real lofty aspirations and I have accomplished most of them. JWS has one also. Not officially written down, top of his list when asked is, "Learn to play Layla on the piano." Tonight he started. Fifty-two and he has never sat at  a piano. Doesn't read music. YouTube. He thinks he can learn it off of YouTube. He practiced. A lot. Almost two hours. Why did I move the piano closer to my paint room? Can anyone help me move it to the garage? And now... He thinks that the piano needs tuned. Really?  He thinks that will make his playing sound better. So many comments that I could make there. He wants it mastered by Christmas. We'll see. Lots happened over the weekend. On Saturday, the Holiday issue of Create and Decorate came out. This is my angel plaque!!! So excited. Sunday had us at the Canfield Fair...

Wool Ornaments Free Pattern

Image
You will need: Felted Wool and Embroidery Floss Colors of your choice Jute Assorted buttons or beads Polyfil Freezer paper Cardstock or old greeting cards. Regular Crafting Supplies This is the pattern.  This is on a sheet of 9 x 12 paper and the box is 2 1/2" x 3" I am going to take this to work with me and scan it and create a .pdf file. If you want that, email me and I will send it to you. Trace these patterns onto cardstock. I have been using old greeting cards, colorful patterns and really?.. I was beginning to hoard them, it was time to put them to use. Trace the patterns on to freezer paper. Iron the freezer paper to the wool.  You don't actually cut the pattern out of freezer paper, you leave paper around the edge of it. It is easier to cut out the wool accurately if you are cutting through the paper and the wool. Make sense? I hope so. Now go to your recliner or couch and cut away and make a big mess. I did use the rotary cutter to cut out the squares. Way fast...

Summer projects

Image
Sorry to disappoint all of you, but today is not a coffee snorting kind of story. Just some stuff that I dug out of my sewing room, and FINISHED! I started these stockings last fall at our ladies sewing weekend. Done. And this pillow...started at the same time. These little barrettes stay in a container and I dig them out and work on them every now and then. And a little bit of knitting in between.  Lightweight yarn that is not too hot to work on in the heat. On a good note, it finally cooled off a little here and we had some rain. Amazing how quick everything greened up again.

How time flies.

Where are the weeks going? Spring must be here. Time starts spinning out of control The winter break must be over. I had a deadline to meet, more on that for another time. I made it, but I seriously underestimated the work required to meet it. Enough of that though. This material behind these flowers just shouted at to me as I slid through a quilt store a few weeks ago. I used sealer to adhere it to the painted surface and then painted on top of it. It still needs varnished.  That should smooth out the surface. A few gingers that have been waiting for attention since last fall. And more owls. A couple of more paintings. And some more sketches from my charcoal class. I only have one more class. I am going to miss them!
