At the Ballet

Image
This happened on Saturday Night.   A modern ballet performed in Armstrong County featuring eleven artists from the county.  I am in the red in the middle.  I seriously dislike being in front of crowds and public speaking.   It was a challenge, but I was honored to be chosen and to sit alongside such amazing talent.  I have been singing, in my head, the song from A Chorus Line,  At the Ballet,  for days.          Back to reality, I am nursing a sore throat and spent much of yesterday resting in my chair and working  on catching up my temperature blanket.   My new years resolution already is to not take on any year long projects next year.  The year before I did a Block of the Month quilt and a sampler afghan.  Too much pressure and seriously over estimating how much time retirement would give me.             Sunday morning was spent decorating...

New Year, New Menu

Image
JWS does most of the cooking around here,  however since his COVID induced semi retirement, meals have changed around here.   We seem to be eating more and more leftovers.  He seems to be busier than when he was working.   He asked yesterday for meal suggestions.  I jumped right on that idea!  I made a list!  Can’t wait to see what he produces in the coming weeks.  Just a sampling of ornaments that I am working on. I am hoping to have them all done in January  for next Christmas season.  The goal?  1000.  Can I make it?  I don’t know, but I am at 262 right now.   One fourth of the way there!

Glitter,Glue,Paper...Oh My!

Image
Elmer's White  Wood Carpenter's Hot Aerosol 527 e6000 Sticks Fabric Not a fan of any of them.   Glue is not my thing.  A necessary evil in the crafting world, but I still cringe when I have to use too much of it.   I am persevering.   I am to do a talk on something at a luncheon this week.  Working away at samples to show.    And these were BIG gluing! I have quite the mess that I am trying to paint my way out of before the end of the week!

Twisted Lines

Image
You know how sometimes you just don't know what to write about. I just go blank sometimes or nothing interesting is happening.   I have been madly working on items for the Fall Open House.     Click above  or go here https://www.facebook.com/FallOpenHouse   Painting away, staying out of trouble, mostly.   The  boys are drawing these everywhere! Of all the crafts and drawings that I have shown them... Papa shows them these in church and now twisted lines are EVERYWHERE!    And the regular stuff, work, getting Kendall to pre-school, the day to day madness and then... Yesterday morning happens.   Shawnee calls, Mom has fallen and she says that she can't get in touch with me.   Not sure how that happens, but we won't go there today.   I call Mom, I talk to her, she is going to the ER.   Now, here is the question. Do I go to Ohio...

The Strange Ribbon Obsession

Image
I'll get to that in a minute... But first, These are some things that I have been working on. See that first one up in the left hand corner? Well I really didn't like that head on that one, so the rest sort of got beheaded. Sure like them better that way. Tried this, not sure if I like it. And these stars.  JWS came home to find them pinned to a board drying on the kitchen counter. His comment? "It's not like you don't have enough areas to craft in this house, is this what it had come to? You now take over the kitchen counter?" Just short of the frustration he had when he found them drying on a baker rack on top of the wood burner. And now on to the topic of discussion.  Four or five years ago, I asked JWS to stop and get me curling ribbon while he was in town. Red Curling Ribbon. He went to Joann's and bought $75 worth of ribbon. So proud that he had got a deal, I still have tons of ribbon. Then in a moment of weakness on Saturday. Not thinking of th...

Twenty! And some family time.

Image
Yesterday we spent some fun, family time at the Steeler game. The kids had bought us tickets for our Christmas present and they all went along also. Missing one SIL, a bit of a overlap in plans. And  Number 20 on my  30 days of projects?  The tree is up, and  the house is semi-decorated.  I am not a primitive decorater. Love to see it, have some areas that are prim, but I just love glitter! The colored lights on the tree, however were not part of the plan. You can read about that here. http://tolentreasures.blogspot.com/2010/12/tense-moment.html Emptied this vase at the church the other day and decided to bring it home for the holiday. Those crochet covered balls have been on my trees for thirty some years. And this tree on the landing. A tree by the grandchildren's play area in the living room. And this nightmare in progress. This was a pre-lit tree that stays up all year. It seemed a little dusty and the lights no longer worked. So, I am in the pro...

A New Obsession, Day 2 and Who Runs Faster?

Image
Day 2 finished. Ornaments for a local shop. They have been sitting on my paint counter for too long! What may cause me to not finish this thirty day project? My latest Obsession/Addiction. Pinterest. Is there a group for this? Pinterest Anonymous? There should be. I can't stay away. So many ideas, such a great concept. I would always find things that I liked on the internet, I would add them to my huge favorites list. I would print them out. I have tons of files of papers. So to justify this new obsession, I tell myself that my favorites column is more streamlined. And Think of what I am saving on printer ink and paper! But, there are so many projects and ideas and so little time left. Unless I am going to live to be 498. And The Great Papa and Grandma Running Race. 2011 Wish I had pics. I am sure that you all do also. It started like this. Lunch is over at work. I am so sleepy. Idea! A little bit of exercise will help the afternoon go better. I look at Logan and say. "Let...
