Seven Days

Image
Seven Days of Creativity. It's a start!   It's an app!   Well, not exactly a creativity app, but a calendar that allows you to post a pic everyday!     So, often I make these huge lists the first of the year, only to find them in a stack of papers in June, largely unfinished and leaving me feel like I have done NOTHING! So, this year, I decided to scrap the lists... well not completely, and try this. Finishing a project a day.     Suppose it will work? Even if it doesn't... I have SEVEN projects done!

Camp Weekend

Image
This has always been my favorite weekend (long weekend) of the year.   For all my adult life, this was an "alone" weekend.   A Buck Widow Weekend.   I loved it!    And then it happened... JWS announces he no longer wishes to hunt.   Now I am sure that there are women everywhere that would love to hear that proclamation, however, it was not a happy day for me!!!   I liked my time alone. I liked my house to myself. I liked the tv remotes, sleeping when I wanted to getting up when I wanted to eating leftovers and whatever I wanted.   Not that JWS is demanding or noisy or messy or hard to be around.   (He is a remote hog though)   Last year, we compromised, New Orleans.   We spent the weekend there. It was fun.   This year nothing... but   It hasn't been bad so far. I got some canvases done And, I turned this ...

Odds and Ends

A little bit of this... painting for a customer and A little bit of that... work on the string quilt AFTER I managed to clean the sewing room  and make room  to  work again. Straightening the attic  and creating a space to  price items  for the  Open House.  It will be here before I know it.  And.. I found some t-shirts that made Some fun t-shirt yarn.  Last of all, work on all these "treasures" that I found at the flea market on Sunday!  Nothing  earth-shattering, just bits and pieces of  daily projects.

Stash Busting

Image
I know, I know. Every year I try to stash bust and vow not to buy anymore fabric, yarn or wood.   And every year, it is broke before the end of January.   This is the year. I have to. My sewing room is being moved to a smaller room. Therefore, I must reuse, reduce, condense, eliminate!   So, yarn projects are being finished, the stash of t-shirts cut up, and all that fabric...   String quilts.   Even the fabric to piece them together and back them is going to wait until I use up and organize all the scraps.   And there are lots!  Over the past week, a huge garbage bag of junk has left the sewing room. That's progress, right?

Bunnies, Rugs and Lizard Girl

Image
What a weekend! It went this way and that way and basically provided me with blog material for the week. So, we will start with bunnies. Managed to get a few of those painted. Finished this one from Wednesday night painting. And some little magnets for the Spring Section of the Open House The hoarder in me says keep these tubes. But the Reduce the Hoard person says pitch them. They are heavy, but what to do with them? and where to store them?   Skip on down to see what they are from.     Saturday morning was GET ALL THESE T-SHIIRTS CUT UP AND OFF THE SEWING ROOM FLOOR morning! And while I was there (in the sewing room, that is )       I found this box of macrame cord, left from my aunt's craft stash. One rug finished and one rug almost finished.   Another almost empty box!     That looks really crooked...it is just the way it is l...

Memorable Quotes of the Weekend

Image
The big accomplishment of the weekend was getting all of the open house stuff from the attic and pricing it.  My Open House is in less than two weeks. Usually, this happens the day before. How nice to have it all done. Logan's comment, "Gramma, what in the heck happened to our bedroom? and where are we going to sleep?"  He must have thought  this was permanent. Sunday had us on a hayride. A little cold but what fun! Tyler's comment of the weekend. "I have not been on a hayride like this since 1955!" Wyatt was not a big fan of sitting still, but managed to endure his first hayride! Logan and Kendall loved it! Logan picked one of the the biggest pumpkins in the patch! My camera went dead at this point. The kids all made these t-shirts. We printed a white design on white t-shirts, hung them on the clothesline and the kids sprayed them with dye. When they sprayed them, the design sh...

My weekend so far...

Image
Well, it is going to be one of THOSE posts, so hang on! Keep in mind the 100+ degree heat that runs throughout this entire account. Also keep in mind that there are two small window air conditioners in this house that work really hard, but just don't keep up. So with that said.... of course I did get this rug finished. I had hoped to get these done... but... well there is still today. Twenty of these to do, and I have five done. So, much of the weekend has no pics, you will have to use your imagination. Friday night after work Wyatt arrived. Keep in mind that while we have called the two oldest boys a couple of Rotties, this little boy is wilder than they ever were. He is 18 months of constant motion. I am talking "batten down the hatches" wild. From 5:00pm until 8:00pm he emptied my spice cupboard and I was getting him out of that, I didn't notice that he had a small contain...
