After the Suwannee Quilt Shop,  we were directed to  Newberry, Florida, where the nice people directed us to High Springs, Florida, and then on the way home, all on our own,  with the help of a little signage we found.... drum roll, please... Micanopy, Florida! I have decided that I have spent way too much time in my 55 years visiting the  EDGES of the state of Florida!  What a fun day exploring the inside of Florida!  All the towns were very nice,  with great shops and  friendly people.  Micanopy, by far had the most shops and  looked so historical.  We ended up there late in the day and it was Monday and some of the shops were closed.  I would love to go back  and spend the day there just exploring.  This was a display of pottery in an artists co-op  in either Newberry  or  High Springs I am not sure which now....

Friday involved some deliveries and a few thrift shops along the way.  It is really fun to have an outlet for the fun things I find now.    That little swan, while it would have caught my eye would have stayed on the shelf. Now it is cleaned up and headed to the shelves of MY little shop along with the Boonton Melamine Cream and Sugar   And this planter. Franciscan "Autumn" Candleholders Cemar pottery Gravy Bowl and that jar. I don't know what it is, but I liked it. Some Pfaltzgraff Jackson china Relpo Pottery and an unmarked bowl. We had one like that when we were kids. I already have one. Maybe someone else wants one! There was also some Pyrex and some more childrens' silverware.   All cleaned and priced and packed to go!   Kendall traveled along on the afternoon stops. Clarion, Pennsylvania has an Autumn Leaf Festival every year. Homecoming at Clarion University, parade, car show and Friday morning... a huge craft show. While I have attended other events there over the years. I have never been to the craft show portion. Wow, there were tons of crafters, but sadly as most craft shows are going, there were also a  lot of manufactured items that people were swarming to buy. Honestly, do they really think that is hand made when there are at least 13 booths with the exact same items? But ok, I won't get on that soapbox this morning. I bought this piece of crockery. Loved the handmade look of it. There were lots of pottery places with cookie cutter pottery but this had charm. So tempted to get on that soapbox!!! It is also a farmer's market and I got these fresh grapes. These concord grapes locally grown are my absolute favorite grapes. Seeds and all...

If anyone remembers, the last load of finished pottery qualified as ranch dip/ketchup containers and toothpick holders. I was really struggling with the whole process. Well I have moved up a little to almost cereal bowls. Ok, well we are going to call them DIET cereal bowls. I am finished with classes and last night I trimmed the last few pots and glazed others. I can't wait for them to be done now. They are actually larger and more straight than these. Oh and the bowl on the left was made by my husband at a one-day event last fall that we sort of "tricked" the guys into attending. They actually had a good time and loved throwing clay but were afraid to let anyone know....I was actually sworn to silence that he enjoyed pottery, but I am pretty sure that none of his buddies are reading my blog, so I am safe!

My third six weeks of pottery classes started last week after being cancelled the first week because of the weather. The first six weeks was several years ago and my daughter and I took the class together. The second six weeks was this past fall and mother and daughter friends of mine had given the gift of the class to me for the work that I did for the daughter's wedding. Now the daughter makes great items, large bowls, plates, vases and pots, functional and decorative items...hey she's young, they are so much easier to teach, right? My daughter, after all in the first six weeks did much nicer projects than I did. So the third six weeks begins and my goal is to make something bigger than a toothpick holder or ranch dip container. Anything that I could possibly either eat cereal out of or have a cup of coffee out of (and not expresso). The first week comes and goes and I have something that might hold ketchup or 16 Hershey kisses as a candy dish, now I am not even getti...
