Flip Flops and Yo-Yo's

Image
Thursday, I booked our trip to Florida. It's been more than two years since JWS and I took a real vacation together. Let's just say, WE ARE EXCITED!!! Saturday, JWS bought these flip flops for himself. As a side note, He has NEVER worn flip-flops! No foreign object has ever  invaded the space between his toes, delicate feet that they are. So, last night we were going to a picnic. And I tell him to wear his new flip-flops. Good thing I added, better throw your sneakers in the car, just in case. One hour into the picnic, I see him hobbling to the car. I know it's bad, because he left his plate of food on the table. Life and death moment here! And today. The antibiotic has been as close at hand, as the remote and the newspaper. That's bad. Real bad. And he has whined... a lot. He is talking as though he is not going to work this week. He is considering this a major injury. and then he whines some mor...

Christmas Stockings

And two more items off my thirty day list. Twenty-one and Twenty-two Ok, my thirty projects in thirty days ends tomorrow. Obviously, this is not a success story. But still, there are twenty-two items done. The glass is half full! Finished these last two yesterday. Pressed, Steamed and ready to go. These were not hard, just time consuming. Why didn't I make them last January? Found these little beads for the tree trunks. And these tiny little jingle bells. And a bigger jingle bell at the hanger. Plastic rings, crocheted around for the hangers. All made out of the "Stash" It pays to be a hoarder. It pays to be a hoarder. It pays to be a hoarder. C'mon, sing it with me people!

Wool Ornaments Free Pattern

Image
You will need: Felted Wool and Embroidery Floss Colors of your choice Jute Assorted buttons or beads Polyfil Freezer paper Cardstock or old greeting cards. Regular Crafting Supplies This is the pattern.  This is on a sheet of 9 x 12 paper and the box is 2 1/2" x 3" I am going to take this to work with me and scan it and create a .pdf file. If you want that, email me and I will send it to you. Trace these patterns onto cardstock. I have been using old greeting cards, colorful patterns and really?.. I was beginning to hoard them, it was time to put them to use. Trace the patterns on to freezer paper. Iron the freezer paper to the wool.  You don't actually cut the pattern out of freezer paper, you leave paper around the edge of it. It is easier to cut out the wool accurately if you are cutting through the paper and the wool. Make sense? I hope so. Now go to your recliner or couch and cut away and make a big mess. I did use the rotary cutter to cut out the squares. Way fast...

Summer projects

Image
Sorry to disappoint all of you, but today is not a coffee snorting kind of story. Just some stuff that I dug out of my sewing room, and FINISHED! I started these stockings last fall at our ladies sewing weekend. Done. And this pillow...started at the same time. These little barrettes stay in a container and I dig them out and work on them every now and then. And a little bit of knitting in between.  Lightweight yarn that is not too hot to work on in the heat. On a good note, it finally cooled off a little here and we had some rain. Amazing how quick everything greened up again.

And some more pics

To be fair, many of these have been sitting on the work table..and the freezer....and the floor in the basement, just needing a little finishing. Tried a different lining inside of this. And a little bit of TV work.

Dress Tutorial?

Image
First of all, I would like to thank Jenny for the goodies that I received in the mail. How fun to have "new" goodies to sew with. I love matching the fabrics and notions for these little dresses. Not only did this box hold all kinds of possibilities, but many of the fabrics went with ones that I already had also. Thank-you, Thank-you! Thank-you Jenny!!! Jenny's Blog is Jenny Matlock . I have not figured out how to make that a link, but her blog is listed on my sidebar, please check her out, she writes on the greatest topics. Always interesting! Speaking of my computer illiteracy, if anyone can tell me how to make this a nice little link on the side as a tutorial, please email me, I would be very grateful! First step is to pick out a main color and the "decorations" to go with it. The main part of the dress should end of being at least 20 inches long, but can be much longer if you have enough fabric. I used a pillowcase as a guide and did not make any of them ...
