McDonald's Salt Packets and the Shelby Tree

Image
The blonde one in the middle with the brown sweater used to come to our house after school.  Somewhere along the line, I think possibly prompted by JWS,  she hid salt packets all over my house, and I mean all over.  It’s been two years and I am still finding them. They sightings are getting farther and farther apart and unless she reads this,  she is not going to know how much  I have enjoyed finding them!   These four,  always fun.  Thrown together as sisters,  20 years ago,  ups and downs,  they are still there for one another.            That brings us to the Shelby Tree. This little tree that stays decorated    and has stayed decorated for many years,   through many moves  to many houses,  has always had Shelby’s preschool picture on it. We have always called it  The Shelby Tree.  It is always a sou...

The Converging of Seasons

Image
Doesn't this look pretty? Then you see the rest of the table. The tree is up. but I found this below in a corner. And the worst one? These giant pumpkins in the winter looking snow! Do your holidays collide?  Mine always seem to. I still have snowmen up for Valentine's Day. Who am I kidding, sometimes I pack them away and put out the bunnies. And in October, I found eggs that needed packed away before I could put out the pumpkins. Thank goodness we drink a lot of coffee. The boxes are perfect. Debbie, Jennifer , Laurie and Sandi your packages will be mailed today!

Keepin' it Strate, The Thanksgiving Special

Image
For those of you who missed the Strate Thanksgiving Saga on Facebook, Here is how the day started. (and by the way, yesterday was our Thanksgiving) Syrup made for the Sweet Potato/Yam/The Final Butternut Squash Casserole. (Those of you that have been following along should be happy with the FINAL Butternut squash idea) Anyway, I try to turn off the burner and NOTHING! It does not turn off. I twist. I turn. I maybe "reef" a little too hard. And The knob breaks. "JWS, we have a little problem" For those of you also following along, you might realize that we also have been having an oven problem. JWS, walking to the kitchen says, "What did you do now, Rambo?" A short time later, my kitchen looks like the pic above. Tyler is repeating over and over the stove has problem, big problems. and Logan is quietly sharpening colored pencils all over my freshly vacuumed floor. Jenn is watching it all amused drinking her coffee, And JWS? Full Panic Mode. I mean Full, ma...

Not Your Typical Turkey Roaster

Image
An order for a customer, Calling it Number 10 in my 30 items in 30 days. Wouldn't want to roast the turkey in this! And Number 11. I am not going to show the whole thing until after Christmas. It is an order also and a Christmas Gift. Done! Last night was the annual noodle making event!  They are still drying for tonight's festivities. We have our holiday meal tonight. Allows the kids the holiday to attend all the other events. And us? A nice, quiet day with leftovers! Hope that all of you have a Blessed Thanksgiving!

Surely, it's Friday!

It really can't be only Wednesday, and AM at that. There has been enough jammed into my three days that I think I could call it a week. Most of it lots of fun though. I would try to put this in chronological order, but I can't even remember it that way. Yesterday, Molly and Kim came for lunch, something I rarely get to do, have lunch with the girls. I felt so bad when it was cut short by the arrival of my neighbor's family with lots of questions. Kim brought me all this fabric and goodies and this morning I woke up at 4 and all I could think was that I wanted to go through it all! That and because we have our Thanksgiving tonight, I needed it moved out of the family room also. Thank-you, Thank-you, THANK-YOU Kim!!!! It was so fun to go through and divide up between my Mom, Shawnee and I. I can see so many projects in it already! Now to get it all to my sewing room. Wool pieces and blankets and even a quilt top! Stacks of homespun and just in time, our stash was d...
