Chili Cook-Off

Image
And believe it or not, I won second place!   Not always known for my fine cuisine, or the way in which I prepare it, and granted, there were only five of us... let's just say it was a fun evening!   These three judged our friendly, family rivalry and Jenn WON!   She was a little over the top nervous about it all, I must say! We had a couple of princesses.   A fun game and honestly, this is the closest I got to an actual photo of all seven of them. Gracelyn is having a good time. A failed attempt at a photo!   Well, maybe Thanksgiving, instead of sugar we will feed them all turkey and hope they calm down!

Photographic Moment

Image
Great picture, right? Everyone looking forward, Relatively happy.   I have had people amazed at that. But then, they didn't see this... The fight between the two year olds.   The non-removal of masks. The battle over the masks. Gracelyn telling one end of the couch how to act. Gracelyn explaining to the other end of the couch how to act and the lobster bites the dust.     But in the end, it worked.   Grandma might be shopping for a sectional sofa!

The Converging of Seasons

Image
Doesn't this look pretty? Then you see the rest of the table. The tree is up. but I found this below in a corner. And the worst one? These giant pumpkins in the winter looking snow! Do your holidays collide?  Mine always seem to. I still have snowmen up for Valentine's Day. Who am I kidding, sometimes I pack them away and put out the bunnies. And in October, I found eggs that needed packed away before I could put out the pumpkins. Thank goodness we drink a lot of coffee. The boxes are perfect. Debbie, Jennifer , Laurie and Sandi your packages will be mailed today!

Bobbing for Influenza

Image
Personally, I call it Bobbing for Apples. My germ conscious children call it Bobbing for Influenza, Bobbing for MRSA.... I mean c'mon they are all family! It's not as if we invited the trick or treaters in off the street to put their germs in there. Logan worked really hard. Gracelyn was the first to get one. Wyatt reached in and took a bite out of every apple. And then they costumed up. See how one is not co-operating? He really does not like to sit still. and pretty much refused to pose. Kendall channeling either Honey Boo Boo or Endora from Bewitched. We were not sure, but that was really some eyeliner. It was cold, but they persevered. Garren was the youngest monkey. And Logan was Toad. I didn't understand it until he showed me it on Mario. Open house is over, vacation is over, now it is time to work on the camper. http://restoringavintagecamper.blogspo...

Halloween Festivities

Image
Halloween Festivities at our house were last Saturday Night. With it brought these little goblins. Buzz Lightyear on the far left refused to leave his costume on. And Strawberry Shortcake was not fond of her beautiful pink wig. But, the fact that we got them all together for a photo was simply amazing. Then the kids, all the older ones that is, called JWS and I to the kitchen for an announcement. My first thought? Who is pregnant now? They told us to go to my car and it was the start of finding our Christmas gift. There was a gift bag with a rhyme that sent us to our church, where the next hint and a pic of the entire family sent us to the local watering hole. Church to Bar?  Have to know our kids. At the bar, the barmaid put a bag up on the bar. In it were two IC Lights. and another rhyming clue... that sent us to the fairgrounds where we found another bag with another rhyme and a bottle of Heinz Ketchup. The clue there sent us to our business where we found another rhyme and ...

A Princess, A Ladybug, Tom and Jerry

What fun they had!  Kendall was probably the most excited of all and who would have thought she would even understand the concept of Trick or Treat?  At every house where they held the candy low enough, her chubby little hand would try to grab as much as she could.  She even had the "stuffing it in the bag" part down pat. Rest!  That was what was called for on Sunday.  A day of rest!  What a unique concept.  I sat and knitted and sat and knitted and sat and knitted some more.  Donation hats were just flying off the needles.

And more painted...

Stuff!  Most of the darkness hours around here are spent either sleeping or painting.  Our fall open house is quickly approaching.
