Seven Days

Image
Seven Days of Creativity. It's a start!   It's an app!   Well, not exactly a creativity app, but a calendar that allows you to post a pic everyday!     So, often I make these huge lists the first of the year, only to find them in a stack of papers in June, largely unfinished and leaving me feel like I have done NOTHING! So, this year, I decided to scrap the lists... well not completely, and try this. Finishing a project a day.     Suppose it will work? Even if it doesn't... I have SEVEN projects done!

Progress

Image
This is by far the best looking area of the room and I am still going to take that shelf down and paint it. But, there is progress.     Friday morning I started painting and the room is painted and started to put back together. Walls, ceiling and closet turned alcove. And even these received a makeover. Here is the blue one turned gray and the closet turned alcove. Still looking for more of those baskets on the shelf above. JWS actually picked those out for me yesterday. Didn't he do a great job? And the rest of the room. That picture on my sewing machine desk is going to be redone. And the curtains?   This material is headed for sunny Florida today to be made into curtains! My sister makes wonderful curtains and has agreed to do that for me!   Shawnee drew this for me when she was in high school. This morning the frame will get a coat of paint and the colors ...

How fast can you crochet?

Image
Pretty fast if you only have a week. Last Saturday, I got the hare-brained idea that I could make afghan for the shower that I went to yesterday. And as fast as my hands could move, I worked all week. All the colors that were in the room that I painted, I wanted it to match. And Friday night... it was done!  All that, with some time leftover!

Warm and Fuzzy?

Image
Looks all warm and fuzzy, doesn't it?  Soft and warm and cuddly?     In retrospect, everything I worked on yesterday had this look. Soft and pastel, fuzzy and warm, Even this painting, finished up in the AM, not my normal colors, but soft and pastel... Well, it didn't fit the mood of the day, believe me.   Hang on, because this is the brutal truth. I was mad. Mad at the World. When I get mad, I cry. Attempted to go to church. Barely holding it together, it was a bad decision.   Sometimes, I really believe that church attendance is not always a good choice.   And it wasn't.   I tried, quiet tears kept flowing....   until.... JWS looks at me and says, "If you didn't have Jesus in your heart right now, you would take off that high heel and drive it right through someone's forehead, wouldn't you?"   See, he gets me!   Slight chu...

Wandering

Image
The last few days could be described as wandering.   Wandering to work, wandering around the house, wandering through things that need done. Just wandering.   I find that I can't get interested in anything long term.   This is the only thing that held my interest through the last three weeks... and it is done.    Have you ever not wanted to finish a project?   I sure didn't want to finish this. I liked working on it.      Have to find something else now to keep my interest. I even tried organizing my knitting needles and crochet hooks. That took all of a half hour.   I have started a bunch of other projects.  Maybe I will finish one of those.    And now, for the funny story, Because you knew that there would be at least one.   My MIL would have laughed and laughed.   How I wish that I could tell her... to watch her laug...

Afghan Progression

Image
It sat on the coffee table from two days after Christmas until New Year's Eve. Then it had to be packed up and put in a basket. I just couldn't stand the mess any longer.  Still working on it, just not allowing it to take over the house any longer. Finished this over the break, or at least all that it my part of it. It is a gift for a friend and another friend is going to quilt it. Another I Spy quilt! And some knitting.... a hat and scarf to keep some little one warm.  There is a story about this yarn... I will leave that for another day.  Back to work today.  Wish I was happier about that!   I sure love being at home!

Couch Potato

Image
That is what I have been. I started this new afghan for Gracelyn's new room and I am addicted to it. So relaxing, such fun colors. I found the pattern here. http://attic24.typepad.com/weblog/2008/11/hexagon-crochet.html # JWS suggested that I clean out the fridge. This is Mussel Tuna Shrimp Potato Broccoli Carrot Onion Pepper Soup. See why this is not a cooking blog? It smells good though and the fridge is empty(ier) So far is is tasty. I'll let you know my thoughts on that later. And A Roaring Fire. The problem with that is, The afghan is set up in the OTHER Living Room. Hope all of you are enjoying this Christmas Season. I  know that I am getting lots of rest! That is if you don't count shoveling, bringing in firewood and an occasional sled ride with the boys!

I Have An Idea!

Image
Words that manage to strike fear in JWS. I think he is learning to deal with it. I think he is learning to embrace it. Really?  I think he is learning to LIKE it! But, I am sure he is not going to admit it. A lot of discussions/arguments start around here with those four words. Often they are followed by six more. 1.Hear 2. Me 3. Out 4. Before 5. You 6. Yell So with that said. The afghan above is the hint to the new "idea." You are going to have to wait to have that one revealed. The second hint? It is bigger than a breadbox. OK, one more... It is bigger than a Volkswagen. Got you thinking now, don't I? These are two of my weekend visitors. If you remember last week it was four girls. This weekend three boys. See Logan's position? Papa has that same look when I have an idea. And then there was this one... I wanted these upper cabinets gone. Unfortunately, I don't have a before pic that I can find. Two cupboards were here. They blocked the room. People tended ...
