Rhubarb + Softball + Graduation = SUMMER!

Image
JWS baked a rhubarb strawberry pie!  Is is amazing!    Kendall had a softball game last night!  What form!  Garren had kindergarten graduation.  He looks less than impressed!  But he did his spoken part perfect!  All signs of summer coming!  Thanks to my klutzy friend,  I have some great painting surfaces!  She keeps breaking mirrors.  I have a third one in the garage.      And these two flea market finds!  Counted cross stitch and framed  beautifully!  Another crazy week here,  just trying to find time to do  some yard work,  some laundry and  clean those porches!

Such a Funny Little Boy

Image
Two weekends ago  I had this little boy and his sister for the weekend.  Let me tell you,  He cracks me up.   I haven't had a poop post in awhile, but have to share his  Friday Morning Bathroom Comment. He had quite the bout of diarrhea starting. The first event was really something.  His comment while peering at the results? "I pooped like a meercat!" Not sure where that came from.  As a little background.  He is my daughter's child. His Aunt Jenn is my step-daughter, thus no genetic connection.  After I made a comment to his sister that  she is looking more like her Aunt Kayla, her father's sister, Garren pipes up and says. "and I look like my Aunt Jenn" This little blonde fair skinned boy thinks he looks like his  clearly Italian heritage Aunt Jenn.  The ferris wheel at Idlewild was his favorite!  We had to ride it  twice....

Pinterest, Nailed It

So, for those of you that have been around for awhile,  you know that I have had a few Pinterest Gone Bad items.  Mostly food items.  But this one.... I think I nailed.  Garren's birthday present  but shhhhh,  don't tell him.   He doesn't get it until tomorrow. It started with this... and the picture below,  that Shawnee sent to me as a suggestion.  JWS was a little disturbed that I got  the picture  and  immediately  went and retrieved a table.  What he did not know  was that I had four of them to pick from. This was one... and the match to it and  another that I lost the picture of somewhere.  I keep telling him,  "You are only a hoarder if you refuse to part with it!"  My next Pinterest project?  I am thinking these books. Now where might I have a stack of bricks?  ...

Quilting Weekend

Image
I picked out the pattern over a year ago. I think that Mom has fretted over it since then.   A year of finding the fabrics, all batiks, coming from quite a few states and trips.   Finally this weekend, we started. Figuring, sorting, cutting, figuring, re cutting, sorting, figuring and finally some sewing.   It all took me back to high school geometry class and poor Mr. Simerlink.   I am really not sure he ever liked me, but I sure would have made him proud this weekend.   I used every bit of geometry that I remember. (which is not much considering it was 40 years ago!) This is what my dining room looked like for much of the weekend. And it even spilled out onto the kitchen floor at one point!   Mom brought in Kamden's quilt that she had finished. This one looks a lot easier! Some time out for Gracelyn Cheering, she is the little blonde in the middle. And ...

What a month!

See this face? That about sums up January for me! This is Garren's excited face.  Mine looks the same, but maybe not for the same emotion.   I always look forward to January. Slow at work, lots of days to come home early. Lots of big projects to complete. Well, let's just say, January didn't quite shape up that way.    I had high hopes of getting lots of stockings finished for next year, some painting orders done, and some rest.   Instead... I got a lot of these done.   Quick and easy. Instant gratification. Not a whole lot of thought.   Projects anyway. Welcomed this new little boy.   Did a little thrift shopping. Spent some quality time with Kendall   So did Papaw. A little more thrift shopping....   And even managed to make curtains for Kendall's room. (Well, Mom made the pinwheels, I just sewed them together)   All in all...
